ANALYSIS OF INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SECTOR IN INDONESIA FROM AN INVESTMENT AND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

This study aims to analyze investment opportunities and challenges in the telecommunications sector in Indonesia from an investment and portfolio management perspective. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a library research approach , collecting and analyzing data from official government reports, annual reports of telecommunications companies, and various scientific literature related to investment, capital markets, and the development of the telecommunications sector. The study results indicate that the telecommunications sector has good investment prospects along with increasing digital transformation, internet user growth, 5G network development, and government support for accelerating the digital economy. On the other hand, this sector also faces various challenges, such as high infrastructure investment needs, inter-company competition, regulatory changes, fluctuating macroeconomic conditions, exchange rate risks, and rapid technological developments. From an investment and portfolio management perspective, investment decisions in the telecommunications sector not only consider potential returns but also pay attention to the level of risk through analysis of company fundamentals, macroeconomic conditions, and portfolio diversification. Therefore, the telecommunications sector remains an attractive investment alternative for long-term investors, as long as it is accompanied by an appropriate risk management strategy.
